About Mathew Knight

As an 80’s kid I had the Paul Daniels magic set and used to watch his show most weeks, however I didn’t get seriously interested in magic until I was a bit older.

I was always one of those kids who got into the latest craze at school, one of which happened to be circus skills. Learning to juggle soon lead to pen spinning and coin rolling and then one day a friend showed me a card trick. I was in my early teens at the time and I discovered that playing cards were a great outlet for my busy fingers.

Later in the 90s and early 2000’s when David Blaine and his street magic became very popular, I learned a new take on the original trick and started demonstrating it to friends at college. The reaction it got was amazing and gave me a real buzz! After that there was no looking back, I had to read every magic book I could get from the library and research what I could from the early internet (now you can learn it all from YouTube!). I joined a magic society and even worked as a stage hand for a world champion magician.

My first professional performance was for a friend of my parents back in around 2003 and my calendar has been getting fuller ever since. After a few years of being semi professional, I turned full time pro and now I’m lucky enough to say that I’m a real full time Nottinghamshire magician! It’s been a great journey so far and I get to travel all over the place and perform for lots of great people every week.

I’ve done small, fun house parties, posh prestigious events, celebrity weddings and even the 2012 Olympics. Apart from all this I’m quite a regular kind of guy with a young family and a range of other interests. I had a few rubbish jobs and worked hard, even doing a science degree along the way. I can’t wait to see where I end up next!
